About R&D Center
Research Area: gDependable embedded operating systems for practical useh
The significant progress of computer and communication technology brings many information devices and systems, such as enterprise systems, PCfs, home servers, digital TVfs, embedded high performance servers, vehicle control systems, production control systems, communication control systems, robots, mobile devices, wearable computers, sensor and actuators, to be integrated in a single communication network. It is expected ubiquitous information society is coming in near future. In the new paradigm, reliability, safety, security, and performance of the entire information network system is critical, as well as expandability and flexibility for dynamic change of the system for future needs. This research area addresses Dependable Operating Systems for Embedded Systems to realize dependable information network systems.
The objectives of this research area is to provide operating systems technology for wide and practical use in the future, to integrate the deliverables from each research team to demonstrate they can be used in practical applications, and to provide basis for the future research and development by providing the deliverables as open source codes. To achieve the objectives under the strong leadership of Research Supervisors, the Dependable Embedded OS R&D Center was established in April, 2007, to ensure the deliverables to be used in practical world and in future research and development, by supporting close communication among research teams, by supporting effective cooperation of the teams, by sharing the resources, and by being the communication center among the user and research and development teams.

Dependable Embedded OS R&D Center
The Dependable Embedded OS R&D Center (DEOSC) will cover part of the research activity, integrate the deliverables of each research team, and demonstrate the output cooperating with the research team. It also leads the promotion and offers support to the users of the operating systems.
The objectives of DEOSC are to bring the deliverables of the entire research and development team into practical use, and to make the activities influential to the area. Following is the direction of the center to achieve the objectives.
- To lead to integrate research activities in the academia and in the industries, and to enable new research paradigm
- To be a center of dependable embedded OS research and development activities by being communication center in the area
- To be a model of research and development center in the area, and to bring up leading researchers and developers
The DEOSC will publish the activities of the research area of Dependable Operating Systems for Embedded Systems for Practical Applications, cooperating with academia and industries.
